Building an ATV Bridge

Updated: Mar 10, 2021

Chris Blanton, RF recently completed an ATV bridge project for a client just in time for deer hunting season.

Materials:

Bridge beams – Treated 2x10’s laminated with treated plywood:

Beams set across creek resting on 6x6 treated sills:

Beams cross braced to increase the stiffness of the bridge:

Bridge decked with treated 2x6 boards:

Side rails installed for safety:

Completed Bridge:

This bridge has a 20 foot span and was designed by an engineer for a 3,500 pound load with a 50 percent safety factor. ATV’s and UTV’s can be very heavy and we highly recommend involving an engineer in the bridge design process.
